Bonds !

Bonds are weak sometimes. Not because they weren’t nourished much, but because nothing is immortal. People leave, die and move on. Yet their smiles are engraved deep in our memories. Bonds are unique, not because you relate to the memories, but because the eternal energy still flows between two souls. The bonds can be as strange as the one between you and a café owner. His food always made you smile and blessed you with endorphins. Now that you can't see him every day a bond remains forever in memories and the smile gets even bigger remembering the lazy Sunday afternoons you spent there.

Red café, hanging right above the Neugal river in Palampur is one such place. The pine trees around….the way river beats its water on the rocks and the mountain that looks even more graceful in winters when moonlight reflects over the silver sheet is a delight. I have visited this place innumerable time, for that, it holds uncountable memories.

The passion for clicking food photos probably sprouted at this very place. The place where I had my first bite of white sauce pasta and the place that brings calmness every time, literally every time. The place, where I found love. The bonfire at the café which kept me warm and high on days when I wanted to jump off the same cliff the café hangs on. The place that turned Merry Christmas into Meri Christmas! The place that came to rescue when nothing felt right, the left turn on the road took me here and took all my worries.

The cafe was one of its kind in the town at the time of its inception. The way I relate to it, maybe no other place could ever do that for me. Cafés are places for people to eat and munch on their favorite dishes, but for me, it still remains “the red café” I have seen since the very beginning, more than just an eating place.

It’s been over 2 years that the owner has passed away, but there has never been a day when I visited and not looked for him. His photograph hangs right opposite to the entrance, how can I really forget him?? The photos I clicked when he used to be there and the reviews I had posted on Google have crossed over ten thousand views. I hope, he watches me from the sky above, I hope he acknowledges my love for the place and I hope he now knows that my praises were for real that I couldn’t stop visiting his place even when he isn’t there.

The herbs you had planted have died off, but I still savor them though they went missing from the meals and the roses that you relished to water do not exist anymore, but the place remains fragrant with your charm. Sir, there are many other café’s in the town now but you gave me a place to weave stories, write many and share thousands.

PS: I don’t click more food photos here

Yours
